Joey Shanahan, MPH, CFRE
Joey joined CSC South Bay in 2018 as Director of Development & Chief Operating Officer and became Executive Director/CEO in December 2019. Joey has spent her entire career in the nonprofit sector, most recently as Executive Director of South Central Scholars, a college access and success organization supporting low-income students across Los Angeles County. Joey is involved in many volunteer endeavors and became a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster youth in 2020. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences from San Francisco State University, and her Master in Public Health from UCLA.
Nancy Lomibao, MS, LMFT
Program Director/Chief Clinical Officer
Nancy has been at CSC South Bay since May 2014. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and earned her M.S. Degree in Marriage Family & Child Counseling in 1996 from California State University Dominguez Hills. She enjoys working with adults, teens, children and couples.
Public Relations Director
Theresa joined CSC South Bay in 2010 after a good friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her passion for her work was further fueled by the loss of her father and stepfather to lung cancer. She started as the Public Relations-Outreach Manager and assumed the position of Public Relations Director in 2015. Theresa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University Long Beach. She enjoys working with the local media as well as the medical and non-medical communities throughout the South Bay and surrounding areas to spread the word about Cancer Support Community’s many free programs, services and fundraising events.
Jackie joined CSC South Bay in Feb 2020 as Director of Development. She brings an extensive 20-year background in sales and marketing with a large Fortune 500 company to the role. In addition, she previously served as a volunteer and chairperson for the Sandpipers Organization, providing support to many local Southbay charities. Jackie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from The University of Arizona. She is a current member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
Cancer Support Navigator
Carla joined CSC South Bay in April 2021 as a Cancer Support Navigator. Originally from the East Coast, she moved with her family to Redondo Beach in 2018. Carla holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University. She has 20+ years of work experience in both the not-for-profit and corporate industries. Most recently she worked on Tour de Pier as an event coordinator which combined her love for spinning and helping to raise money and awareness for cancer.
Event & Volunteer Manager
Kelly’s passion for creativity and design have shaped her notable success as an events manager in the South Bay. Her gifts of organization, imagination and enthusiasm help create unique and memorable moments. Living and raising her family in Redondo Beach for the past 20 years, Kelly has a true love for the beach and the South Bay vibe. In 2019, Kelly joined the Cancer Support Community South Bay, giving her the perfect outlet to apply her event planning and management talents towards making a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer in her community.
Rebecca joined CSC South Bay in 2021 and manages all programmatic scheduling, online registration, and participant support. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and previously supported over 450 students experiencing homeless in Orange County with free academic support and school supplies. She also volunteers as a Sexual Assault Advocate through Waymakers and Virtual Lodging /Reunification Team Lead for the Red Cross in Orange County.
Starr received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona and has worked in the communications industry for over 20 years. She has experienced a wide array of work environments from small design studios, to ad agencies, museums, and her favorite- nonprofit organizations. She came on board at CSC South Bay in 2021. Starr is passionate about using art and communication to build community and bring transformation, hope, and beauty to our world.
Alex Lasso De La Vega
Alex joined CSC South Bay in 2019 and enjoys working within our tight-knit community. She manages all office operations and supports our administrative staff to help CSC South Bay run smoothly. Being bilingual, she is a warm welcome to Spanish-speakers who call our office looking for help and information. Alex received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Cal State Los Angeles. When she’s not working, you can find her exploring the outdoors and practicing photography.
