THE GOOD WE DO

With any cancer diagnosis come feelings of hopelessness and social isolation. The mission of Cancer Support Community South Bay is to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. Since 1987, Cancer Support Community South Bay has served more than 28,000 families impacted by cancer through FREE support groups, healthy lifestyle classes, educational workshops, and counseling. With your gift in 2025, we plan to extend our outreach to support even more participants; providing over 200 free support programs each month and keeping our vulnerable community safely connected. As a nonprofit, we rely on the generosity of individuals, sponsors, and foundations to fund our programs, allowing us to offer all of our services completely free of charge.

Event Day Schedule

• 9:00am: Check-in opens.
• 9:50am: Pre-event announcements.
• 10:00am: 5K Walk and Fun Run begins.
• 1:00pm: Event ends.
• (Vendor Expo and the Kids Zone will be open at 9:00am.)

Event Day Highlights

• Event Options: You can either walk, run or stroll the 5K. 
• Family Friendly: Bring the kids for a fun day at the Long Beach shoreline.
• Dogs are Welcome: Friendly and leashed dogs are welcome to participate. 
• Commemorative T-shirt: each in-person event participant will receive a T-shirt. (While supplies last.)
• Virtual Option: If you are unable to attend the event in person please feel free to virtually participate at your leisure.

5K Walk & Fun Run Course

Together We Walk starts at Shoreline Aquatic Park near the parking lot. The 5K walk weaves its way through Long Beach passing the Aquarium, Sea Shell Park, Gladstone’s Restaurant, Shoreline Village, Parkers’ Lighthouse, Queen Mary, and the harbor. The walk ends back at the Aquatic Park where we started. 

The walk is perfect for Individuals of any age and fitness level. You have the option to turn around at any point on the 5K and return to start to complete the race.

There will be 2 water stations along the walk with a final water station at the finish line.

FAQ’s

Where do I park?

• Parking is available at the Pike Parking structure, located at 65 Cedar Ave, Long Beach.
• Please pay parking fee at meters. 
• The start of the walk is a short distance from the parking lot.

Where do I check-In?

• Please look for the check-in table near the parking lot to check in using your QR code.
• T-Shirts can be picked up at the check-in table. Please bring your QR code to speed up the registration process.

How far is a 5K?

• About 3.1 miles. You have the option to walk, run or stroll the length of the walk.
• Feel free to turn around at any point on the walk.
• The course is stroller friendly.

Are there any age limits?

• All ages are welcome.
• All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Kids are allowed to scooter next to their adult companions. (no motorized scooters).

What if I can’t make it?

• Together We Walk is a rain or shine event.
• If you cannot participate on race day, you can walk virtually when it’s a better date for you.

Are dogs welcome?

• Leashed and friendly dogs are welcome.
• Please always clean up after your dog.
• Dogs that are aggressive will be asked to leave the event with their owner.

Is there first aid?

• First aid will be available at the information booth.

Can I register on the day of the event?

• Yes, you can register on the day of the event.
• Please visit the check in table to register and pay your registration fee.

Where do I pick up my t-shirt?

• T-Shirts can be picked up at the check-in table.
• Please bring your QR code to speed up the registration process.

Lost and found station?

• Lost and Found will be available at the information booth.
• Please turn in any found items to the information booth to be claimed by their owner.
